Wright-Hennepin Board elects new Vice Chair

 Following the 2014 Annual Meeting, Wright-Hennepin’s (WH) board of directors elected a new Vice Chair at their reorganizational meeting.
Board Director Erick Heinz, District 9 (Corcoran) was named Vice Chair after Tom Mach (Maple Grove) voluntarily stepped down from that position. Mach will remain the Board Chairman of WH Holding and Board Director in District 6 (Maple Grove). Mach held the position of Vice Chair since 1999. 
Heinz has been a WH member for 27 years and has served on the board of directors for 14 years. In addition, he has been a self-employed farmer for 32 years and has worked as a Mycogen seed corn sales representative, and provides snow plowing and commercial truck hauling services.
Board Chair Chris Lantto (French Lake) and Secretary Treasurer Dale Jans (Buffalo) were re-elected to their officer positions on WH’s board.

SMITTY’S AMATEUR FIDDLERS CONTEST drew 22 musicians to compete in Big Lake this year. They were accompanied by Gilmore Lee.

LEE GERHARDSON, 47, from New London, was found dead in Big Lake near the swimming beach in 10 feet of water Monday. Cause of death is unknown at this time but foul play is not suspected.

Adopt-a-Road participants volunteer for Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and work to clean roadsides that border and bisect refuge land. This spring, from April to June, approximately six individuals, three families, and seven groups, such as boy and girl scouts and 4-H groups, volunteered to clean countless miles of roads.
