The most ferocious battle in the Pacific theatre in WW II was fought on the volcanic island of Iwo Jima, the first of the Japanese “Home Islands” to be invaded by U.S. Marines in the campaign leading to the planned invasion of Japan.

Big lake middles school wrestlers, wrestled at Bemidji state and brought home the medals! 

BIG  LAKE HORNET Cassie Knick took third place in the all-around in the Mississippi 8 Conference meet versus Buffalo.
The Big Lake Hornets varsity gymnastics team beat the Monticello Magic, 138.500-133.725 in an away meet Thursday. Junior Mallary Dick took first place on the vault, the uneven bars and the balance beam. She took third place in the floor exercises and was number one in the all-around with a score of 37.375.
Big Lake seniors Rachel Olson and Nate Souther were selected to be among the nominees for Region 7AA Triple A awards honors.  Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (Triple "A" Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League.

Mischief Managed opens in Big Lake

Psychotherapist Leah Corder has opened a new business in Big Lake,  Mischief Managed, in the Jefferson Square building above the Fudgin’ Delicious Ice Cream Shop.

Interim City Admin-istrator and Finance Director Jessica Green has accepted another job with Northland Securities as the V.P. of Public Finance and her last day with the City of Big Lake is Dec. 12.

Green leaving, budget, levy and fees discussed at workshop

The Big Lake City Council and city staff convened  Wednesday to participate in their usual bi-monthly workshop.

THE A CAPELLA VOCAL GROUP TONIC SOL-FA performed in Big Lake this week and spent some time talking to choir students at the high school Wednesday morning.
