The Big Lake School Board met last week and set Monday, Nov. 10 as the date to meet at 7:30 a.m. to canvas the results from Tuesday’s election.  The board approved a grant application for the Minnesota state High School League to pay for student scholarships in athletics and fine arts.

Saturday afternoon it was the little kids turn to have fun on the Spud Spooktacular Trail of Terror through the Woods of Despair. The not-so-scary event included a pumpkin decorating contest, a costume contest and games for the little ones. All the contests were judged by audience applause.

Dottie Carpenter ran the Cupcake Raffle on Saturday night at the Rivers of Hope Gala. Purchasing a cupcake entered the buyer into a raffle for a Sterling Silver and Black Diamond Naledi Shield Pendant donated by Loch Jewelers in Monticello.

Oct. 15, at 9 p.m. Big Lake Police Officers were at 750 Minnesota Avenue on a call for service related to a felony warrant arrest.  Officers observed a 2004 Harley Davidson Motor-cycle in the parking lot, which appeared to have been repainted.

Steven Jay Hansen, age 60, of Elk River, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his home.

James “Jim” Stephen Nagorski, Age 67, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Little Falls Care Center in Little Falls, MN.   A graveside service with military honors by the Minnesota Honor Guard was held on October 28, 2014, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.
