More than 50 individuals turned out for the Small Farms Day program hosted by the Sherburne Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) at the Sherburne History Center in Becker last Saturday.

Violet Barr has been painting for 50 years.
There are people in the Big Lake community who have hidden talents. Among them are Chuck and Violet Barr, residents of Keller Lake Commons since 2012. The Barrs, who moved to Big Lake to be near their four daughters, met in 1955 and married in 1957. Chuck grew up in Thief River Falls and Violet grew up in White Bear Lake.

Over 500 people turned out for the Big Lake High School Empty Bowls event Monday evening to raise funds for the Big Lake Community Food Shelf.
