Wrestlers 12th at Foley

The Big Lake wrestling team finished 12th of 16 teams at the 5th Annual Tom Keating Memorial Wrestling Tournament last Saturday at Foley.
Four Hornets finished in the top eight spots in their weight class.
Josiah Brown took third at 170 pounds. After a first round bye, he beat Johnny Zarnke of Chanhassen-Chaska, 11-6. He lost a 3-2 overtime decision to Jordan Nelson of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (ACGC), then beat John Garceau of Foley, 4-1.
Logan Donais finished fourth at 113 pounds. After a first round bye, he beat Ben Johnson of Alexandria, 9-1. He lost a 7-1 decision to Brennen Holien of ACGC, then lost an 11-5 decision to Tony Bemboom of Sauk Rapids-Rice.
Drew Kern took fifth at 132 pounds. He beat Gabe Rivera of St. Cloud Apollo by tech fall, 15-0 in his first match. He lost, 15-2 to Zach Scott of Holdingford. Then he pinned Randy Kutz of Foley at 4:18 and beat Cooper Hanson of Monticello, 3-2.
Dylan Pothen finished seventh at 145 pounds. He lost by pin at 5:21 to Jake Berthiaume of Monticello to open the meet, then came back to beat Tristan Johnson (unattached), 8-4, pinned Ricky Kruse of Minneapolis Washburn at :45 and took a 9-3 decision over Billy Deslauriers of Canby.
Dillon O’Leary took eighth at 195 pounds. He beat Tryston Bemboom of Foley, 6-1 before losing by pin to Blake Keske of Sauk Rapids-Rice at 3:53.

At 106, Heath Foster won one match, pinning Khalid Ali (unattached) at :23.
At 120, Patrick Liebl won one match, beating Ethan Kiehm of Minneapolis Washburn by tech fall, 18-2.
Derek Helgoe won one match at 126 pounds, pinning Jake Murphy of Maple Grove at :38.
Parker Millam won one match at 152, beating Elijah Solomon (unattached), 2-1.
At 220, Garrett Moran won one match, pinning Kevin Cao of St. Cloud Apollo at 3:47.

The Hornets wrestled at STMA Thursday and lost, 70-3, results to follow next week. They compete in the Pine City Invitational today (Saturday) at 9 a.m., then host Minneapolis North at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

THE SHERBURNE COUNTY CHAPTER OF THRIVENT FINANCIAL donated $1,200 worth of items to the Big Lake Community Food Shelf Tuesday. The donation included 50 hams and some personal care items.
