Swimmers, divers 2nd at True Team Invite

Big Lake Hornets varsity  swimmers and divers took second place in Saturday’s True Team Invitational at Sauk Rapids-Rice Saturday with 1063.5 points.
Monticello won the meet with 1082 points. Sauk Rapids-Rice was third with 930.5 points. The Foley Falcons were fourth, just half a point behind. 
Becker took fifth place with 655 points. Proctor-Hermantown was sixth with 546 points. Princeton was seventh with 514 points and Zimmerman was in last place with 78 points.
The highlights of the meet for the Hornets include Kelli Poffenberger, Lara Wellumson, Erin Ralph and Sara Rebrovich taking third place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:01.64.
Cassie Jahn won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.11. Jordyn Robarge finished in sixth place.
Laurel Pietrzak took sixth place in the 200 individual medley. Erin Ralph finished in eighth place.
Maggie Knier took second place in the 50 freestyle with a time of26.07.
Lily Noble took sixth place in the diving competition with 297.65 points. Cacia Sanford was seventh with 287.90 points. Helena Lingasin was 10th with 267.60 and Clare Adams was 11th with 266.40.
Gabbie Werner took seventh place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:09.56. Ralph was eight with 1:09.52. Lauren Ireland was 10th with a time of 1:15.30.
Knier took fourth place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.32.
Jahn won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:26.68. Jordyn Robarge was fourth with a time of 5:39.56 and Laurin Ebert was sixth with a time of 5:44.40. Knier, Rebrovich, Robarge and Jahn took third place in the 200 free relay with a time of  1:47.88. Pietrzak, Ralph, Natalie Rannells and Wellumson took sixth place with a time of 1:52.76.
Poffenberger took second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.38. Werner was fourth with a time of 1:10.36.
Wellumson took third place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.18. Pietrzak finished in seventh place with a time of 1:16.23.
Knier, Robarge, Pietrzak and Jahn took second place in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:51.52. Poffenberger, Hannah Wessel, Ebert and Werner took eighth place with a time of 4:12.24.
Senior Night
The Hornets also beat the Buffalo Bison at home Tuesday, 97-89.
“Tonight was senior night, so we honored our eight seniors,” said Coach Brittany Gronewold. 
This year’s seniors are Cassie Jahn, Erin Ralph, Kelli Poffenberger, Lauren Ireland, Morgan Turk, Jessica Stevens, Sydney Butalla and Sara Rebrovich.
In the 200 medley relay Poffenberger, Ralph,  Wellumson and Robarge took first place with a time of 2:04.18. Ebert, Turk, Werner and Rannells took fourth place with a time of 2:13.31.
Jahn won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.65. Robarge was third with a time of 2:15.29.
Pietrzak took second place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:30.09. Ralph was third with a time of 2:32.38. Knier won the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.46. Bailey Goracke was third with a time of 28.93. Rannells was fifth with a time of 29.44.
Noble took third place in the diving competition with a score of 185.90. Adams was fourth with a score of 184.85 and Lingasin was fifth with 169.85.
Ralph was fourth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:08.75. Werner was fifth with 1:12.51 and Ireland was sixth with a time of 1:14.88.
Knier won the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.78. Poffenberger was fourth with a time of 1:03.75. Rannells finished in sixth place with a time of 1:06.13.
Jahn won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:26.99. Robarge was second with a time of 5:41.91. Ebert was third with a time of 5:58.48.
Knier, Ralph, Wellumson and Jahn won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:48.00. Rannells, Goracke, Ireland and Pietrzak took third place with a time of 1:58.07. 
Poffenberger took second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.76. Werner was fifth with a time of 1:12.71. Ireland was sixth with a time of 1:16.99.
Wellumson won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.29. Pietrzak was second with a time of 1:18.37.
Jahn, Robarge, Pietrzak and Knier took second place in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:55.63. Wessel Morgan Ireland, Lauren Ireland and Turk took fifth place with a time of 4:33.44.
Sections are Nov. 8 and 9  at Sauk Rapids-Rice, time to be decided,  for the varsity squad. The JV championship is scheduled for Oct. 24 and 25 at St. Michael Albertville at 5 p.m.

SOLDIERS LETTERS. The Minnesota Military Veterans Family Tribute (MFT) project is seeking items of correspondence from Sherburne County veterans from the Civil War through today for possible inclusion on the Story Stone each county will have on the memorial now under construction on the State Capitol Mall in St. Paul. The photo depicts an artist's rendition of the material to be etched on the stones, one for each of the 87 counties in the state.
