Brown leads Hornet wrestlers

The Big Lake Wrestling team finished ninth at the Mississipi 8 Conference Tournament last Friday at Monticello.
Josiah Brown had the best finish for Big Lake. The senior took second at 160 pounds. He beat Mitch Zachman of STMA by major decision, 14-3. He beat Jake Pramann of Princeton by major decision, 12-4 before losing to Cody Skog of Cambridge-Isanti in the final, 9-0.
Five other Hornet wrestlers placed in the top six in their weight class.
At 106 Logan Donais finished fourth. He beat Charlie DesMarais of Buffalo, 4-3 before losing to champion Aaron Dick of STMA, 14-3. Then he beat Brett Wilson of Rogers, 7-3 before losing to Carlo Holmberg of Cambridge-Isanti, 10-8.
At 120 Patrick Liebl finished sixth. His one wincame over Jared Meyer of Buffalo, 8-6
At 126 Derek Helgoe took fourth. He beat Cruz Martinez of Rogers, 7-6 before falling to undefeated Tommy Thorn of STMA. He beat Andrew Wasche of St. Francis, 8-6, then lost to Jack Bourgeois of Monticello, 6-2.
At 170 Wyatt Juhl took fourth. He pinned Jacob Pasch of Cambridge-Isanti at 4:49 before losing to undefeated Joe Virga of Chisago Lakes, 11-4. He pinned Connor Adrian of Monticello at 0:59, then lost to Pasch 11-1.
At 220 Garrett Moran took sixth, His one win was a pin of Bailey Adams of North Branch at 1:52.
