BICYCLISTS RACED ALONG Co. Rd. 75 Saturday morning during the second leg of the Graniteman Triathlon in Clearwater. Athletes swam .46 miles in Warner Lake, rode their bikes 14.3 miles, then finished with a 3.1 mile run. There were 251 finishers - 145 men and 106 women. The overall winner was Casey Miller, 35 of Baxter, MN in a time of 1:05.57. The top female finisher was Nicole Heininger, 25 of White Bear Lake in 1:09.49. The top finisher from Clearwater was Alexander Johannes, 19, who completed the course in 1:30.03. Complete results can be found online at


HISTORIC FIND. SCSU graduate student Jeff Williams is shown with copies of the Red Wing Republican Eagle newspaper that detail a week's worth of the fighting on Iwo Jima in 1945.
